Self Esteem Counselling

Counselling and Therapy for Self Esteem & Confidence

The ability to feel good about ourselves is a basic human right and one we may sometimes neglect. How good do you feel about yourself? Do you like, respect and value yourself? Do you feel confident in your ability to achieve the goals you set for yourself and create new challenges?

Self esteem relates to our perception of who we are and how much value we place upon ourselves. People with a healthy level of self esteem are comfortable in their own skin and like what they see when they look in the mirror.

Self confidence relates to our perception of our own abilities to do and achieve something. People with appropriate self confidence are comfortable in setting goals and challenges for themselves as they believe in their ability to reach them.

Sometimes we can have high self confidence in one area of our lives and low self esteem in others, for example; high self confidence in relation to our jobs and low self esteem in our personal relationships.

How therapy can help

Sometimes life may give us a few knocks, shaking our confidence and how we feel about ourselves. Having the space to explore how past and recent events have affected us and looking at ways to nurture and build ourselves back up so we can work towards being the 'best me' can be helpful.

It is normal for our self esteem and self confidence to fluctuate at times, however if you notice yourself persistently feeling low and thinking negative things about yourself it may be beneficial to speak to someone.
